Saturday, September 29: A Divine Comedy
- An evening of good food and merriment
as four Divas try to top each other—each performance
more outrageous than the last.
Featuring Kathleen Moss,
Marie Plette, and Aimée Puentes.
December 31: New Year's Eve
at Caffé Venezia
- West Edge Opera singers continued the New Year's Eve tradition at Berkeley's Caffé Venezia on University Avenue. Sigmund Seigel and Eileen Meredith provided operatic entertainment for early diners, and a second group (Kathleen Moss, Benjamin Bongers, and Jillian Khuner) sang for later diners. Music Director Jonathan Khuner accompanied on the piano.
Poppea Previews
West Edge Opera presented a noon hour preview of Poppea on Thursday, January 24, in the 5th floor Art & Music Room of the Berkeley Central Library in downtown Berkeley. Mark Streshinsky, Gilbert Martinez and singers from the production introduced the opera and performed some highlights.
In addition, Gilbert Martinez gave a lecture on Monteverdi and Poppea on Saturday, January 26 in the new Community Room at the Berkeley Library North Branch. Gilbert, who is Artistic Director of MusicSources, Center for Historically Informed Performance, conducted the Poppea performances. He is an early music scholar and co-creator of our new performing edition of L'Incoronazione di Poppea.
