2018 SUMMER FESTIVAL
Pelleas and Mellisande
Claude Debussy’s only opera Pelleas et Melisande, will be performed in the original French with English supertitles, without arias, and it's score will be adapted for chamber ensemble by West Edge Music Director Jonathan Khuner. Kendra Broom takes on the role of Mélisande and tenor David Blalock sings Pelleas.
Librettist Paul Peers directs Mata Hari which premiered at Prototype Festival in NYC last y ear. The piece centers on Mata Hari, the archetypal “Femme Fatale” and historic exotic dancer, courtesan, and spy, who was convicted and executed for her crusades during World War I. Actress and dancer Tina Mitchell performs the title role.
Elkhanah Pulitzer directs Quartett, the enigmatic and controversial opera based on the play by Heiner Muller. Quartett will be led by Spoletto Festival resident conductor, John Kennedy. The cast will feature soprano Heather Buck as the Marquise de Merteuil and Hadleigh Adams as the Viscomte de Valmont.
Craneway Confernce Center at The Craneway Pavillion in Richmond, CA
The 45,000 sq ft bay front Craneway Pavilion offers the largest and finest event space in the Bay Area, with stunning architecture and breathtaking views. Built in 1931 by the Ford Company as an assembly plant in Richmond Ca. Designed by the great industrial architect Albert Kahn.
The Confrence Center is on the second floor of the Ford Assembly Building, just aside the main Pavilion, featuring the same industrial look and architectural style. ADA accessible (elevator).
