Beth Ratay

on Medicus Mortem

Composer Beth Ratay discusses her piece Medicus Mortem, a gripping dramatization of the unfathomable ethics of assisted suicide. A loving physician cares for his terminally ill daughter who asks for his help to ease her suffering. His anguished choice is placed on public trial, subjected to moral outrange and cries of “murderer”.

Snapshot is your opportunity to see new works from established and emerging West Coast composers in an intimate concert setting.

Now in its third year, this collaboration between West Edge Opera and Earplay remains the only program of its kind in the bay area.
