Kenneth Kellogg as Adam, Emma McNairy as Eve, Matthew Worth as Caine, Ryan Brenton as Abel.

Rudi Stephan (1887–1915) was a wunderkind composer who completed Dieersten Menschen at the outset of World War I and died in battle at 28. The operapremiered five years later, a haunting glimpse of the titan he might have become.

The First Humans is a lyric work of psychological poetry: a matrimonial conflictbetween Adam and Eve, and sexual intrigue between their sons, Cain and Abel, who both desire the only woman available — their mother.
